Grilled Caesar Turkey Burgers

Now that we're almost into the middle of January, how are the New Year's resolutions coming along?  Still sticking with them?  Exercising more?  Eating healthier?  Doing whatever it is you resolved to do?  Or not doing what you resolved not to do?

One of the most common resolutions is to eat healthier.  If you read my blog regularly, you know I love a good burger, but they can be filled with fat and calories.  In my quest for a healthier burger, I found this recipe over at Life Made Delicious.  These burgers are made with lean ground turkey and have wonderful added flavour from Parmesan cheese, reduced-fat creamy Caesar salad dressing, a little parsley, onion salt, and pepper.  Serve on a whole-grain bun, and you have a burger you can enjoy guilt-free.  And best of all, it's delicious!  We absolutely loved the fresh Parmesan and Caesar dressing which made our burgers moist and flavourful.  Even Joe, who isn't a big fan of turkey burgers, loved these.  They were a great change from the usual beef burger.

Enjoy!

1 lb. lean ground turkey
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon onion salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup purchased reduced-fat creamy Caesar salad dressing
1 1/2 cups shredded romaine lettuce
1/4 cup shredded fresh Parmesan cheese
4 kaiser or whole grain buns, split
4 thin slices tomato

Heat closed contact grill for 5 minutes.  (I made these with  my grill pan on the top of the stove).

Meanwhile, in large bowl, combine ground turkey, parsley, onion salt, pepper and 2 tablespoons of the salad dressing; mix well. Shape mixture into 4 patties, 1/2 inch thick.

When grill is heated, place patties on bottom grill surface. Close grill; cook 8 to 10 minutes or until patties are no longer pink in centre.

In small bowl, combine lettuce, cheese and remaining salad dressing; toss to mix. Spoon mixture evenly onto bottom halves of buns. Top with patties, tomato slices and top halves of buns.

Serves 4.

  1. I'm not normally a big fan of turkey burgers but you nailed this one. Great crust on it too.

  3. This is one beautiful burger. We use little meat but I try to use chopped turkey when I do use chopped meat. I think, it is time for a burger.
